| Notes |
858th Squadron Code: 9A
Tail Code: M (underlined)
Reassigned to 859th on 20 June 44 to replace 41-29489 which had transferred to the 448th BG on 15 Jun 44.
859th Squadron Code: X4
Tail Code: M (underlined) remained unchanged
The new squadron and tail codes were not repainted due to lack of time. However, this plane would have been assigned the letter M+ since it replaced the former M+. According to the formation sheet and the J FORM for mission 34, this aircraft was still using its old 858th letter with the underline.
The J FORM clearly shows this plane was reassigned to the 859th. However, it was flown and lost with a crew from the 857th. Another case of one squadron borrowing a plane from another, which happened a lot at the 492nd. Subsequently, the 857th owed the 859th a replacement plane.
