Folded Wings - Seymour Spivack, Robert Downes
|
We recently learned two more of our 492nd heroes have recently folded their wings. At this time the only information we have is what is written below. If anyone has more information, please contact Norma Beasley so she can make an announcement in the Happy Warrior.
From Dick Bastien:
Seymour E Spivack MD served in the 492nd BG at North Pickenham as a flight surgeon until Aug 44 and then in the 467th at Rackheath, England, until hostilities ended. He and his wife, Selma, lived at 25 Denman Place, Hillside NJ 07205-3135. Seymour died in mid 2007.
According to the Social Security Death Index, Spivack was born on 25 Dec 1913 and died on 28 Nov 2006.
From a friend of the late Robert Downes:
Mr. Robert Downes, tail gunner Shalvoy Crew 618, passed away 16 April 2007. He was 83 years of age and is survived by his wife Dolly and duaghter Marie and two (2) grandsons. I thought it would be nice to recognize a great friend and fellow veteran by letting an organization like yours know of the passing of Bob my friend.
We e-mailed Bob Downes' friend but did not get a response. Lew Brown will try to get in touch with Dolly.
