Hyman Stiglitz Laid to Rest After 63 Years
A beautiful ceremony was held Friday in Tucson, Arizona, for T/Sgt Hyman L Stiglitz, radio operator of the ill-fated McMurray Crew 801 that was shot down 7 Jul 44 on the 492nd's second Politz mission.
Stiglitz is the third of the nine McMurray crewmen lost that day to be discovered, identified and returned to the US to be buried with full military honors, thanks to the dilligent efforts of Enrico Schwartz of MAACRT and many other selfless individuals.
We are honored to have been able to attend the service. A link to our account of the funeral along with 13 photos taken there can be found on either the McMurray Crew 801, Mission 46 or the Stories pages.
