Ran out of fuel on return from a mission, crashlanded in the UK.

This plane never had a tail letter assigned to it. But it was replaced with 44-40290 obtained from the replacement depot. That plane was assigned the letter F+ therefore we conclude that this plane would have had that letter had it survived.
